GOTS Organic Certification

MioEco cotton is grown and certified to organic agricultural standards. Organic farming sustains the health of soils, ecosystems and people by using natural processes rather than artificial inputs, and it does not allow GMOs or synthetic pesticides and fertilisers.

GOTS is a textile production certification that limits the bleaches, dyes and other chemical inputs allowed when textiles are made. It is widely regarded as the strictest organic textile standard because it goes beyond the organic farming to cover every stage of manufacturing. To carry the GOTS “organic” label, a product must:

  1. Contain at least 95% certified organic fibres
  2. Be bleached only with oxygen-based bleaches, such as peroxide or ozone
  3. Be dyed and finished only with chemical inputs that meet GOTS requirements
  4. Be made by certified facilities that meet the GOTS environmental and social criteria and are audited on site
